Core Club Online. Movement Not Exercise

Movement is a gift we are generally given at birth. I say gift because it really is. As we move into adulthood however we confuse movement with exercise. Range of movement becomes compromised and capability falters.

Sitting at the top of the food chain, the human being has the luxury to ask the questions, why run?, why swim?, why climb?, why cycle? Everything is just there for us on tap. The result for humans in general I feel, is devolution. A massive disconnect has occurred between our minds and bodies. Many, many humans are working in jobs that don't require their bodies, sitting at desks, tapping on keyboards and clicking on a mouse for 8 hours a day. Every day.

Ask yourself this question. Are you using your body purely as a means to transport your head? Think about it... The reality is that we only tend to notice this wonderful piece of technology that is our body when something goes wrong with it. Someone said to me recently that we have betrayed our bodies. They are right. So what Is Core Club? Well quite simply, Core Club is movement. Exercise is a modern invention, a trillion dollar global marketplace. Exercise is optional. Movement however, movement is essential. Exercise will have us think that two to three weekly trips to the gym will get us off the hook with our bodies. Exercise is generally pain rather than pleasure driven and it can be generally focused on specific repetition and lacking in real skill development. Most exercise regimes use machines and isolating exercises that make us experts in movement patterns that are neither functional and are also limiting. As Ido Portal once said “The body will become better at whatever you do, or don’t do. You don’t move? The body will make you better at NOT moving. If you move, your body will allow more movement.”
